October 1st was the beginning of induction week at Uni (aka Freshers Week) and it included a couple of sessions of introductory work to the course.
The first 'project' was to create an image through a pin-hole camera. This was created by getting a 440ml beer can, cutting off the top and placing photographic paper inside (in a dark room) and completely seeling the can so no light would bleach the paper. Then a pin hole is created in the side of the can which is covered with tape, light shines through onto the curved paper inside the can and an image is created. Mine is shown below.
The other students' images can be seen at this link: http://www.lab.constellations.co.nz/induction/07-08/pinhole/
The second project was to create a stop-motion animation using a whiteboard which lasted around 120 frames. The objective was to get the box from one side of the tree to the other. Below is a compilation of all the students' work. Ours is the one that starts with the wine bottle-bodied man flying out.
Now the course begins for real so expect more posts soon.
